About Lady Wilson

Qutation WIKI:

“ According to the Dictionary of National Biography entry for Harold Wilson, written by Roy Jenkins,[3] Mary was not satisfied with life in politics. It was this detachment which gave the Private Eye spoof Mrs Wilson’s Diary, the supposed diary of Wilson, written in the style of the BBC’s daily radio serial Mrs Dale’s Diary, a spurious look of authenticity.[citation needed]

Mary was widowed on 24 May 1995 when Harold died of colorectal cancer and Alzheimer’s disease after ten years of illness. They were married for 55 years. As of 2007 she lived in Westminster, a short distance away from Downing Street.[4][better source needed] She also retained the couple’s holiday home in the Isles of Scilly.[5]

In 2013, aged 97, she attended the funeral of Margaret Thatcher.[6]

Wilson died on 6 June 2018, of a stroke, in London aged 102.[7] She was the longest-lived spouse of a British prime minister on record and the first and only one to become a centenarian.

About her husband Lord Wilson

Qutation WIKI:

„Wilson’s first period as Prime Minister coincided with a period of low unemployment and relative economic prosperity, though also of significant problems with Britain’s external balance of payments. In 1969 Wilson sent British troops to Northern Ireland. After losing the 1970 general election to Edward Heath, he spent four years as Leader of the Opposition before the February 1974 general election resulted in a hung parliament. After Heath’s talks with the Liberals broke down, Wilson returned to power as leader of a minority government until there was a second general election in the autumn, which resulted in a narrow Labour victory. A period of economic crisis was now beginning to hit most Western countries, and in 1976 Wilson suddenly announced his resignation as Prime Minister.“
